\nHindus celebrate Rakhsha Bandhan, sometimes referred to
\nas Rakhi, which is a well-known festival. The underlying
\nmeaning of Rakhsha Bandhan is that it represents the love
\nand brotherhood that exist among Indians. This holiday is
\nextensively observed in India. In the history and mythology
\nof India, there are a number of tales that describe how this
\nfestival first came to be.
\nMythological Time
\nThere is another narrative that supports the genesis of the
\noccasion known as Raksha Bandhan according which Lord
\nKrishna destroyed the devil King Shishupal to safeguard
\nthe Dharma on earth. During the battle, Lord Krishna
\nsuffered a bleeding finger. Draupadi noticed his damaged
\nfinger was bleeding, so she tore a piece of her saree and tied
\nit around it to stop the bleeding. She was valued by Lord
\nKrishna for her love and concern. She had a sisterly
\naffection and compassion that he felt bound by. He
\npromised to pay her future debt of appreciation back. After
\nmany years, the treacherous Kauravas won the Pandavas’
\nwife Draupadi in a game of chance. When they made an
\nattempt to take Draupadi’s saree, Lord Krishna used his
