Pharmaceutical Engineering is concerned with the study of Industrial processes
\nrequired to convert raw material into value added pharmaceuticals such as drugs
\nand excipients. It is a subject of importance for the undergraduate students as
\nwell as the industrial pharmacists. Over the years, students of pharmacy have
\nbeen feeling the need for a simple book that expresses sufficient depth to enable
\nthem to handle industrial operations with an understanding of the principles
\ninvolved therein. This book is an attempt to meet these two objectives.
\nThis book consists of including chapters: introduction to basic principles in
\nengineering, fluid flow, liquid material transport, solid conveying, heat flow,
\nsize reduction, size separation, mixing (solids, liquids and semisolids),
\nfiltration, centrifugation, distillation, evaporation, crystallization, drying.
\nHumidification and dehumidification, corrosion, plant materials of construction
\nand other related aspects of pharmaceutical industry.
\nThis book deals with unit operations and processes utilized in the production of
\nbulk drugs, dosage forms and biological products. There is a proper blend of
\nphysical, chemical and engineering principles. One model equipments has been
\nselected for explaining all the principles and general working though many
\nvariations and varieties of the same may be available. Hopefully, this book will
\nprovide strong foundations on the subject and for in-house training of technical
