Molecules are made up of atoms of<br \/>\ndifferent elements, joined together by chemical bonds.<br \/>\nTo plan the route of chemical synthesis, scientists usually visualize the end product and work<br \/>\nbackward toward increasingly simpler molecules. For many molecules, it is possible to<br \/>\nestablish alternative synthetic routes. The ones actually used depend on many factors, such as<br \/>\ncost and availability of starting materials, the amount of energy needed to make the reaction<br \/>\nproceed at a satisfactory rate, and the cost of separating and purifying the end products.<br \/>\nMoreover, knowledge of the reaction mechanism and the function of the chemical structure (or<br \/>\nbehaviour of the functional groups) helps to accurately determine the most-favoured pathway<br \/>\nthat leads to the desired reaction product. The authors of this book put their effort to bring<br \/>\nstrategies for the synthesis of few bioactive molecules in the institutional laboratory. Basically<br \/>\nthe strategies are planned for the under graduate level pharmacy students as per the curriculum<br \/>\nprescribed by Pharmacy Council of India. The authors of Strategies of Synthetic Bioactive<br \/>\nmolecules have put a small effort to bring 18 synthetic strategies of different bioactive<br \/>\nmolecules. The structures of the molecules are drawn using software Chemdraw version 8.0.
