From the Bottom of a Tender Heart

I began writing Poetry at the age of eleven, during a time
when Home felt like a distant memory rather than a place
I could easily return to; at a time when Life felt too
heavy for words I didn’t yet know how to speak. I was
far away from home—Physically, Emotionally, and in
every other way that matters to a young heart still
learning what it means to belong. In that space
of longing and unfamiliarity, Poetry became my
companion—my way of making sense of emotions too
big for a child to hold alone. Every line I wrote back
then carried the weight of distance, of missing, of
growing up too quietly in a world that often didn’t ask
how I felt, and how I was doing. I didn’t set out to
become a Poet, I simply needed a place to put all the
feelings I couldn’t carry alone.
